So, in my last post I wrote about our first snow of 2010, that was the last weekend of January - it really wasn't your typical "snow day" fun snow, but rather just icy, messy and cold. Well, we got another one in February, I think the weekend of Valentine's day. It was snow you could play in, and we had a blast! I was kind of bummed at first because at that time, I had planned on going to BC to see my people for like 3 weekends in a row. Either snow or a Haley cold prevented us from going. BUT...in the end I was glad we stayed home, safely off the roads and snuggled up in our own place - it was lock down time (nobody in - nobody out) and we loved it! We made a snowman, actually it was more like a snowboy, because he was about 3 feet tall. The one thing I didn't do that I wish I had was make snow cream, Mama always made it when it snowed (when we were growing up) and I remember it was so delicious. I'm going to make sure to start that tradition, hopefully next year we'll get some more fluffy white stuff, it was kind of odd that we had snow anyway, that doesn't always happen here, and to happen more than once, yeah, that was cool. The biggest and coolest update to post about though is Haley is officially POTTY TRAINED! I don't know how or why, but all of sudden one evening (March 23rd) she came home from school and wanted to go pee pee in her potty. Not just once, but twice that night and then the next morning before school - then a few days after that, she was doing it at school too ! I am so very proud of her! AND...it's also really nice that I don't have to buy those diapers any longer. (only the nighttime ones, for bedtime) She's wearing big girl panties now, even to school, with only a couple of accidents thus far. She's so smart and helpful now too, she's even trying to wash dishes, fold clothes. When we get home from somewhere, she'll put her shoes by the door, and if she has a coat, she'll give it to me to hang up on the coat rack. I LOVE THAT GIRL! Another first....she went to MeMe's and PaPa's house last Saturday all by herself. MeMe came over Friday night, and the plan was for her and Haley to hang out and play while I did some housework, and errands, etc...I got up and asked if they wanted to just to BC and I could go get her later. They were both like yeah! So, we packed her up - which didn't take long, because she was literally set on go - Mama and Haley walked out, and Steve and I followed behind them, and I know I for one was thinking, she's going to change her mind - but she didn't! She got in the car, got buckled up, peeked over the door and waved good bye to us! It was such an odd feeling though, and even more so later throughout the day - because she just wasn't there. I think it was around 4:30 or 5:00 and I was on my way to BC! They had made a green cake (Haley woke up talking about a green cake - her little friend at school - Leo, he turned 3 and they had cake, evidently some of it was green and she wanted one!) Of course, being the cake maker, MeMe pleaser that she is, Haley scored a very delicious and very green cake. Leo also must have had a little Thomas the Train on his cake, because Haley talked about that while we were eating it - and sure enough, when we got home w/ the left over cake, she put her train on it! Too funny! Haley and PaPa got some bonding time in too, he has the most patience with her, they remind me of a golden retreiver playing ball, no matter how tired he is with it, he keeps catching and throwing - good times, I hope Haley will remember them all. I told Mama after it was all said and done that we might be on to something because while I missed her and thought about her nearly every minute she was gone, it was nice little break. But one I would not want for an extended amount of time by any stretch.
