Sick Abby and a Long Weekend / Memorial Day !
Last week we woke up to Abby banging on the door, window, anything she could to try to get our attention, it was around 4:30AM. Steve finally woke up and goes down the hall to take her out, I hear some mumbling, but don't think too much of it. This isn't really Abby's routine, she can normally wait until morning - BUT...Abby was sick! Steve was mumbling about all the crap that was on the floor. Before I go any further, I'll say, this is out of character for Abby. She usually holds her mess as long as she needs too, however, this was different. You could tell it wasn't just a poop, this was a sick poop, and more sick poop, and a couple piles of vomit - yes, it WAS VERY GROSS. Steve gets most of it up but for some reason when he gets to Haley's room, he has to come get me to tell me it's all in there, so I'm assuming he needs some help - I get up and start cleaning and before I realize it - Steve's back in bed...wth? This is the same poop and the same carpet that you were just cleaning up, why not finish it, so I won't have to get up I mean, you've already got it started and nearly finished? Did NOT understand...but it was too early, I was too sleepy, and that mess was about to make ME vomit, so I dealt with it. I was going to just watch her that day - me and Haley, stayed home from work and school. But Abby kept going out to poop and on the 3rd or 4th trip outside it turned bloody - so we made a call to the vet, and went to wait for an appt for nearly 2 1/2 hours. Haley did so well there. It was kind of busy and there was a kid in there that was younger than her, and he was just all over the place, his Mom had to keep calling him down - I was so proud of my Haley - she sat right there, and was so patient and listened to everything that I asked her to do. Even in the exam room. The diagnosis was what I had suspected, but wanted to hear it from the dude that went to school to say it...."it was probably something she ate" You see, we had gone to BC the weekend before, the poop incident happened Wed AM - I'm thinking that was just about enough time for something rotten to mix all up and create havoc in her tummy and intestines, and that's what the vet said too. Mama/Daddy have a garbage disposal in the ditch at their house, that's where all the leftover food goes - and is usually the first place that Abby goes to sniffing. They refrain from using the disposal while we are there but I think there must have been "something" left that Abby probably found deliciously disgusting. So, 2 1/2 hours and $165.00 later, we're heading out to go home. The girl was so sick it was pitiful, she just layed around and didn't even try to harass me and Haley out of our pizza that afternoon. So, Haley & I were home on Monday, just because I needed a day (bad) on Wednesday because my fur baby was sick, then....took Friday off for a play/shop day - we finally picked out Haley a big girl bed, and we did some shopping for more summer clothes for Haley. We really had a great time. She's my little best friend, I truly have the best times with her, and she cracks me up so much. I can't even imagine what life would be like if I had not had a Haley. Don't even want to try. That girl amazes me more and more as time goes by. We went to see Uncle Michael on Saturday (w/ little Michael) - and just a little while before it was time to leave, she started warming up and playing with Uncle Michael. We're going to have to go more often, because I can tell it means something to him, and I want her to know him too - he's a good guy, he really is, he just made some bad choices, over and over....damn. Anyway....that was Saturday afternoon, Sunday we just hung out and played some, was lazy some - then Monday, Steve went with us to order the big girl bed (which will be here on Thursday) and that afternoon Mama and Taylor came over! It was a great weekend, and not a bad week prior to that except for when Abby was sick. It's Tuesday now, Abby is better..and Haley, Steve & I, we're back to our routine - work and school. I miss the weekends during the week!
