Birth Story continues....

So, we get to PCMH, it's 11:11PM - on the way I had called Mama (the only person I called) and left a message. I didn't know it, but she had forgotten her phone @ work when she left that evening. So, she didn't get the message until she got to work the next morning. She left as soon as she heard my message and headed to G'ville. It's Friday morning, and I guess things are going as they are supposed to, I was in pain, and I was tired and sleepy - I remember snoring like a BIG DOG - and when voices were loud it was very irritating to me - but for the most part everything went well. At first I wasn't dilating very quickly, so they got some pitocin going and before it was over, they had given me the most that they could give anyone....and we're still waiting!!! During all of this I got the epidural, that had to be the best idea/plan that I made during my pregnancy! It took a lot of the pain away - can't say I didn't still feel them, I did, and it made my lower half feel really wierd, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Getting from 0-8 cm took a while, but the rest, 8-10 cm, flew by - it was about an hour, maybe a little bit longer, but not much. So, the pushing starts around 9:00PM, it was taking F O R E V E R - I was SO TIRED, and I SO THIRSTY. Carolyn Green was on call, and just so happened that she was my very favorite midwife! WOO HOO! Fast forward...Haley's heartbeat had dropped some during all of this, and they kept talking about a c-section, which I DID NOT want, I think mainly because I had to stop eating ice if we were going to go to surgery. Did I mention how very thirsty I was? Plus, hell, I had already been in labor for eternity - no way did I want to have to recover from a c-section too. So...in the end it was either forceps or the vacuum - I chose foreceps. Mama had to leave the room for that, it must have gotten ugly - I don't know - all I know is when he (Dr. Frank Gay - who wasn't anybody special before but since then has become my favorite Dr) got those things adjusted, and I pushed a couple more times - HALEY MARIE PAUL aka HALEY HANNAH MARIE ROWE PAUL was born July 13th 2007 @ 10:23PM - she weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and was 19in long - and I fell madly in love like never before !
