Yep, it's 2011, and I'm just finishing the updates from our Summer vacations and shenanigans. BTW...HAPPY NEW YEAR! If it's anything like last year, I'm ready for it! 2010 was yet another awesome year for us.
So, we went to the beach, saw fireworks, celebrated Haley's 3rd birthday AND went to Virginia to the Great Wolf Lodge. This is an inside water park, but it's also a hotel (lodge I guess is more appropriate though) but it was like a hotel, only better. Me, Steve, Haley & Kalaya left Sunday 8/22/10 in the afternoon - again, I had to take Abby to Mama/Daddy's, so needless to say we got a late start getting there. Once we did, it was pretty cool. Haley had a blast on the water slides, I think that was her favorite part, that and the wave pool, but mostly we couldn't get her away from the slides. It wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be, but fun and everything you needed, including your room was "right there" - that part was the coolest. I think Kalaya had a good time, but probably would have more so if she would have had a friend there with her. We had 2 days of it and I have to say, it was really all you needed. Once you did the rides/slides there wasn't too much to do except lounge around. Oh, and they had this game for the kids, magic quest - Haley was all into that, you got this wand when you checked in and there were different places set up throughout the lodge that would do different things once you waved the wand in front. There was some sort of point system/game to it, but Haley just had fun waving the wand and watching the chests open, the owl speak to her, and stuff like that. Steve took her and Kalaya to do that Sunday evening, while I had a little R & R myself, which was mostly spent on the balcony - that part was pretty cool too, it was a little private balcony - I dig those! So, after we checked out Monday afternoon we took Kalaya to her friends house Julian/Jillian, damn, I can never remember that girls name. But Kalaya loves her so much, so she must be a good girl. She wants to hang out w/ her when she comes to see us during the Summer, and we try to make it happen. Worked out great the past 2 years because of us doing stuff in VA, but we would get her there regardless. So...Haley & I took that Tuesday off to recoup and just be lazy, and get ready to head back to work/school. Other than celebrating Steve's birthday in September (a little early-before Kalaya left) w/ a cookie cake from the cake lady (your perfect cake) and a dinner at Sappari Japanese Steak House - that's our Summer in a nutshell. Oh, and I don't know if I've mentioned this in the other Summer posts, but Haley saw her very first movie at the theater. It was Toy Story 3 and she did AWESOME, I shouldn't be so surprised because she's the coolest kid EVER!!! I've got a trick for the next movie though, because she was just a little too interested in the silly little games/machines that they have all lined up to tease the kids. But for the most part, she behaved very nicely! I love, love, love having her, I swear she is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me! Makes me smile just thinking of her....
